Guess who got to be on the DC Sunday Conversation panel at Chicago Comic Con?

I was in the front row and Ian Sattler started talking about seeing me the day before, and how every time he answered a question he would look at me out of the corner of his eye to see my reaction. If I was bouncing in my seat it was a good deal. I mentioned that Sunday was my birthday and he asked if I wanted to join the panel. Hell yes I want to join! I got to sit next to Art Baltazar and Franco from Tiny Titans, so awesome! Definitely the best birthday ever.

But before all that, I bought $100 dollars worth of Impulse , almost as much in Young Justice, a Captain Boomerang II action figure, a bunch of trades, an awesome Robin shirt, and a bunch of other wonderful stuff. Also I ran into [livejournal.com profile] shananagin while I was hunting for Impulse, which was pretty groovy. I knew for sure I had seen her on s_d before, but I couldn't remember where else. Turns out we share a couple of comms like duh, [livejournal.com profile] heartbart. I should have known. It's my own fault for lurking so much, I obviously need to write some Young Justice fluff. *goes to go do that*

I was swallowed by life for a bit, but I think I'm okay now. *shrugs* It happens.

Ever since I started using facebook I've been using LJ for fanon and not much else. And while I have had things to say about recent events, I haven't really had the energy to post.

God, were do I start.

I joined[info]boostle recently, I'm not sure why I haven't before. I was kind of surprised at the number of people from [livejournal.com profile] piper_trickster, such is the power of bromance I suppose. Most importantly, I now have  Blue Beetle and Booster Gold action figures. I'm so happy that they're more of less proportionate to Bart and Max, otherwise it'd be hella awkward.

Iowa weather has been very... wet. God, I hope it doesn't flood again, my cousin just moved back into his house.

For Spring Break I'll be going up to Wisconsin, though God only knows what I'll do there. Blake is going to be in Hawaii for some band related reason, so I will be at a lack for someone to geek out with.

This month I promised myself I'd get a bunch of indie comics to try out, and I really enjoyed them!
Reviews in which I more or less say I adored everything. Maybe I'm just easy? )
The world of indie comics is a big, scary place when your just starting out, so please send some more recs my way, especially if it isn't getting the hype it deserves. Even older stuff that if I consider myself a comic fan I would have read by now. Webcomics are great too, I just started reading Planet Karen, so awesome.

I just saw Watchmen and... I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Spoiler City under the cut, for both book and movie. I warned ya... )

This pretty much sums up my feelings quite nicely.

I have no idea how I'm going to get back history now. My "local" shop has shit all for backstock and I don't have a credit card. Balls.
I'm angry, but not at anyone in perticular. What s_d was doing was illegal, and it was only by the grace of god it lasted as long as it did. The negitive mood that had begun to surround s_d was starting to become a problem as well. I went there to read about golden age hijinks and the Supercracktionary, not to bash comics for the sake of bashing. I hope something gets sorted out that works for everyone.

As it is, I do wish PAD would get rid of Layla. I really want to get into X-Factor but I can't stand that girl. Needs more Rictor if you ask me.

I got back yesterday, but then I finally read Watchmen and my mind shut down due to the "Holy crap, did he really just do that?". Alan Moore is a crazy bastard and I kinda love him for it.

So. Wizard World Chicago Con 2008.

It was awesome. I got so much stuff and met so many incredible people. I got autographs from Gail Simone, Warren Ellis, and Lou Ferrigno and they were all super cool. I bought a billion Young Justice issues, Secret Six, the Impluse trade, Watchmen as I mentioned, a bunch of new stuff by Warren Ellis, and Bart and Max action figures. And yes, I am playing with Bart as I write this. I got two t-shirts on is the image in my icon and the other is a Robin shirt which I'm wearing right now. I- I didn't *know* it was going to rock that hard, but it really did. I got some pictures but most of them came out crap. I have so many comics to read now, I'll be at least a week before I come up again, (to buy the next Final Crisis, natch. I have no idea whats going on, but I want to.) My dad ended up having a lot more fun then he thought he would, I think. It's very possible we might go next year. :D

I'm still kinda buzzed from the whole thing, and I'll try to  fix up the pictures as best I can so you can see em.
